What is a Project?
A development project is a temporary endeavor undertaken to create a unique product, service or result. The temporary nature of projects indicates a definite beginning and end. The end is reached when the project’s objectives have been achieved or when the project is terminated because its objectives will not or cannot be met or when the need for the project no longer exists. Temporary does not mean short in duration.

What is Success?
Project success and failure is related to stakeholders' perceptions of the value created by the project and the nature of their relationship with the project team. This dissertation demonstrates a link between the successful management of the relationships between the project and its stakeholders, and the stakeholder's assessment of a successful project outcome. The project's success, or failure, is strongly influenced by both the expectations and perceptions of its stakeholders, and the capability and willingness of project managers to effectively manage these relationships within the organisation's political environment.

What is Development Management?

Development management is accomplished through the appropriate application and integration of logically grouped development management processes which manage risk.
