About Me
Theo van Veenendaal
Director
I offer 40 years of experience in creating a key driver for successful urban redevelopment projects – town centre and retail development.
I chose to establish my own company for the express purpose of providing a perspective from outside the corporate team, and the key advantage is the integrity and impartiality I bring in challenging business as usual.
My specialisation in town centre, mixed use, community and retail developments has also provided an important understanding of the timing and deadlines, through the need to maintain flexibility in responding to market forces and cycles.
I provide leadership through building relationships and creating a collaborative approach to problem solving.
I understand the need to establishing in my team a creative tension and to challenge processes and regulations that inhibit the achievement of economically, environmentally and socially sustainable communities.
My currency as an external consultant is my integrity and impartiality
What is Development
Management?
Development Management is the application of knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to project activities to meet the project requirements. Development management is accomplished through the appropriate application and integration of logically grouped development management processes that manage risk.

What is a Project?
A development project is a temporary endeavor undertaken to create a unique product, service or result. The temporary nature of projects indicates a definite beginning and end. The end is reached when the project’s objectives have been achieved or when the project is terminated because its objectives will not or cannot be met or when the need for the project no longer exists. Temporary does not mean short in duration.
What is a Success?
Project success and failure is related to stakeholders' perceptions of the value created by the project and the nature of their relationship with the project team. This dissertation demonstrates a link between the successful management of the relationships between the project and its stakeholders, and the stakeholder's assessment of a successful project outcome. The project's success, or failure, is strongly influenced by both the expectations and perceptions of its stakeholders, and the capability and willingness of development managers to effectively manage these relationships within the organisation's political environment.
